Special Earth Day Service Project: Sunday, April 14th

Premium Marsh Conservation Area

Open to all Volunteers!

Rotary Club of Larchmont & Rotary Club of New Rochelle

In association with

the Town of Mamaroneck Conservation Department

Premium Marsh Conservation Area Clean-Up Project

for Earth Day

Project Description: Premium Point Marsh was impacted by Hurricane Sandy. A significant amount of trash washed up the inlet channel into the marsh and up on the surrounding shoreline. Our Clean-Up Project will pick up and sort as much of that trash as possible to collect in a few hours. In addition, there are many limbs and large sticks lying around. The Town of Mamaroneck has asked that we use these to outline walking paths around the area.

The result will be a dramatically cleaned area with defined walking paths, significantly beautified because of our efforts.

Date/Time: Sunday, April 14th, 2013   11am to 2:30pm; but come for as much time as you can.

Location: Premium Marsh Conservation Area  (Directions below)

Who Should Come Help:  Rotary Club members, their families, any adults & teens.

HOWEVER, no children under 9 years old, please.Town of Mamaroneck will require that all volunteers sign a volunteer release form for liability purposes.

Directions: The primary entrance will be via Dillon Avenue off Boston Post Road, opposite the new Porsche dealer and Staples/CVS/Mrs. Green’s shopping center. Continue on Dillon Avenue down the hill on the curvy road. Look for a gravel road on the left side. If you look closely, on the right side of that entrance is a rock with a plaque on it. DO NOT PARK ON THIS GRAVEL ROAD.

Parking: Continue on Dillon Avenue for 75 feet or so to the next road, Pheasant Run. Park on that street and walk back to the gravel road. Walk up the gravel road until it curves left. Go straight til you see a lot of wood chips on the ground. That’s our starting point.

Conditions:, There are the usual hazards like pricker bushes and poison ivy.  There is a lot of rusty fencing, construction debris and broken glass.  Work gloves and sturdy shoes or better yet, high rubber boots are recommended.  Tools and trash bags will be provided.

All cans and bottles must be separated and recycled (a great project for the younger volunteers!)

RSVP: Please tell us that you will attend and the number of people with you: 914-833-8683; President@rotarylarchmont.com
